Description
Arriving at Port Columbus, Ohio, 1929. Port Columbus was a new station on the Pennsy where passengers would de-train to catch a Transcontinental Air Transport Ford Tri-motor which would fly them to Kansas City. There, a Santa Fe train would take them further west. The final leg of the trip to Los Angeles was in another Tri-motor.
In the early days of commercial aviation, night flying wasn't considered safe, so trains were used in the night portions of the trans-continental journey.
